Esplanade

Currently under construction at Mt Martha, Esplanade takes Bluestar beyond its Melbourne heartland and onto the Mornington Peninsula coast.

The brief was to capture the bay from as much of the home as possible without turning its back on the street. The upper level answers it with four glazed bays set beneath a single horizontal roof plane, each softened by a cascade of planting that will mature over the balustrade. At ground level, a curved mosaic-tiled wall wraps the frontage, reading as a band of water from the roadside.

Inside, the ground floor opens into one continuous volume. A curved stone island anchors the kitchen, paired with slatted timber joinery and a window splashback that frames the garden hedge rather than a wall. Dining and living flow from it to a covered terrace, where full-height glazing draws Port Phillip Bay into the room.

The private wing continues the same restraint – oak joinery with integrated lighting through the dressing room, stone vanities and full-height tiling across the ensuite.
